Happy Birthday Anita

My little girl is one year old today! It is amazing to think that it's been a whole year since that long day last fall. It has been one of the most amazing years of my life. She is teaching me so much about myself that I didn't know before, from how patient I am and testing those patience (lol) to showing how much I am actually capable of loving.

I've watched her lay as a newborn a year ago staring into space, not actually able to see anything but shadows til now when this little lady's face lights up and she jumps for joy when I get home from work!

Then she runs from her toys to her books to show me what she has today. Even though I've seen these toys and books a hundred times, because I tell her how great they are and appreciate her showing me, she continues to do that.

One night when she was laying on the floor on her back I was tickling her and she reached up and grabbed both my cheeks and pulled my face down to give me a kiss. Her kisses usually consist of slobbers and the occasional runny nose, but I wouldn't change that for the world. I'll take those kisses no matter how they come! This little girl is a reader! She will empty the entire bookcase of about 50 books and then sit in the middle of them and look through each one, then toss it over her shoulder to get to the next one!

She is especially snuggly when she just wakes up! I will go in to pick her up and she will be standing in her bed holding her diaper up to me, when I take it and put it on my shoulder she will reach up to be picked up and then lay her head on my shoulder and just rest for awhile. She likes to snuggle in close in the morning with Kate.

She also likes to stick her tongue out and blow when she's done eating! I've gotten a carrot shower and an apple sauce shower a few times out of that one! She likes hot dogs for dinner and stuffs them all in her mouth as fast as she can then sits and chews a mouthful like she is getting ready to battle for food with Rowan or something. This little lady of mine is all smiles all the time, although recently she has learned how to fake cry, and when she doesn't get what she wants she will try to fake cry us into giving it to us. It is a beautiful sight actually, it seems to me that she is such a happy girl that she can't really even fake cry without looking like she is hiding a smile. She is an example of what we should all be when it comes to being happy with what we have. She knows no different from what she has and she can get so excited she can't stand it over simple things as her book that she ripped the cover off of or the stuffed animal that she pulls in for a death grip hug when she sees it. This little lady of mine is the most incredible creature in the world to me. Kate and I thought our lives were complete before her, but oh were we wrong. She brings great joy to the lives of all of us in our big extended family. When she sees her Pop-pop or Grandmomma she really just jumps and runs. I like to think that they have a tough job ahead of them because they have to love for two grandparents and what a great job they are doing at it. Anita's Granddad would have a grin from ear to ear and spoil this little girl everytime he saw her. She is missing out on a great part of her life and it's no fault of her own. But the grandparents she has are working overtime to make up that difference and this little girl is reaping the rewards of two over-the-top grandparents in every way. Happy Birthday my little angel baby.

Happy Birthday little pumpkin from Pop-Pop.

Most critical 4 years!

As parents, we choose to have children and therefore we are obligated to sacrifice almost everything in our life to raise, teach and protect...
