My sweet child

Once again I find myself at the end of the day sitting in my rocking chair holding my angel as she sleeps! My baby Katie is sitting here watching "Letters to Juliet" while she has peace and quiet.

Anita just started to snore a little bit. It's crazy beautiful to hear that little baby snore as she sleeps. I will be hunting tomorrow so I want to get all the family time in tonight i can.

I will postpone my bedtime from 9 until 10 just squeezing a little more time in. I love my ladies. I couldn't imagine loving someone as much as I loved Kate, but then Anita came along and BAM I have a baby that melts me and no matter what this little rascal does, it's a beautiful thing. From being a complete wild indian full of energy to laying on my lap as she does now,,, she's my angel. As I've told Katie, if I ever came home from work and the house did not look like a tornado hit, i would wonder what was the matter with Anita!!! She loves her books and they cover half the living room when they are all out! What a beautiful sight!!

With a new baby only a month, or weeks or....... days away, I'm preparing to be blown away again!! I've heard that your second baby is the one that really makes it all sink in and be real!!! I'm waiting and ready!!

Time to carry this little baby up to her bed. Good night for now>

Jamey Johson-The Dollar- Great song

Heard this song on AOL Radio today. Really a good song for all the daddy's who work so much they miss the most precious years of their children's life.

Jamey Johnson
The Dollar

Daddy hugs his little man
says son I’ve got to go
and he pulls out of the drive and disappears
as they walk back in the house
the young boy asks his mama

My baby is the best

As I am sitting here rocking my daughter to sleep for about the 300th time in her life, I'm pondering how she has grown in one year and how she has put up her fights about every other night. But when she does put up those fights I just smile and thank the Lord for my baby! (most nights anyway) I've actually dozed off while walking the hall with her and slept through her crying. But all in all even in those tough times of no sleep and crankiness I try to remember to thank God for what seems like the ultimate blessing!! It's an amazing thing to be a father. To be entrusted with such a precious thing as a little girl, to love and hold, protect and provide for and love her Momma unconditionally as she loves me. Family is a blessing that dwarfs all else. If I were to ever tell my child "not right now, I'm busy" I would be a failure. If I were ever to busy for them,,, I'd need a reality check. I love my wife and daughter unconditionally with all my heart. This post is dedicated to my selfless wife. Thanks baby!

There is a delicate balance between parent and buddy

Being a friend to your child is a good thing, but being your child's best friend can be a little bit of a problem in some cases. It may be hard to explain, but here goes. A girl (or boy) needs a mom or dad to be a figure of authority and to not necessarily fear them but respect them enough to obey and not question or test their authority. When a parent is their kids best friend instead of their parent it breaks down the structure of the family and most times creates a rebellious attitude in the kids. If a child respects and looks up to their parents, there can a great relationship as a friend but still maintaining the role of a father or mother. Getting married too young can lead to this situation because if you are married in your teenage years you will in essence 'miss out' on them because you are not a 'wild and free' kid, instead you are a responsibility plagued young married adult (or so you should be). The result of this is when the kids reach 15-18 years old, the parent(s) realize that they indeed missed out on this prime years and start to relive those magic years through their son or daughter. This not only gives the kid unspoken permission to be rebellious while still being in the parent's good graces, but also gives them the green light to run wild.

Parents: Don't live your lost years through your children. It's wrong and just not fair. They are their teenage years. Not yours!

Outlook on life

There are two kinds of people in the world; pessimist and optimist. To sum up this post in a nut shell "pessimism sucks". Have you ever spent any amount of time around a pessimistic person? If you have you have soon found out that nothing is ever good enough or new enough. Someone always has it better than you and lifes not fair. They always get the short end of the stick. And a key attribute to pessimists is they love to bitch and moan about everyone and everything but refuse to lift a finger to help themselves. They seem to feel that since they have it oh so bad, that what they think they do deserve should be given to them. Not worked for or earned.
An optimist, on the other hand, seem to get the big picture. They see the best in every situation and even in the darkest of circumstances. Times when the pessimist sits in virtual sack cloth and says whoa is me, that optimist is getting back up and saying it will work out, things will turn around. There will be a silver lining! And genuinely looks for a bright side.
Pessimism is like cancer to the high spirits of people around them!!

Blogging

So I've technically been blogging since 2003. Man how things have changed both with me and with my blogging and just in general! I laugh at some of my 5,6 and 7 year old blog posts!! But I leave them up because that IS how I felt at one point.

Most critical 4 years!

As parents, we choose to have children and therefore we are obligated to sacrifice almost everything in our life to raise, teach and protect...
