The love of a family is evident

Went to a Christmas family get together tonight. My in-laws. There was someone there was someone there and met the family for the first time. After a few hours she talked about how christ's love was evident in the room, no matter what beliefs or ideas or religions were present, christ's love is what she saw in the family. That wS so encouraging and renewed my hope that someday my own family can see and share that: christ's love. Not seeing the differences when we see our family members and banking that, but seeing and celebrating what we have in common: our love for the Lord and love for each other. Not making judgements on things that are unseen or on beliefs or anything but on the common love of Christ that we all share. We may express it differently in our private lives but at the end of the day "we all profess the same thing". So my prayer is that we can love each other as brothers and sisters and even if but once a year, get together as a family. Those who voluntarily opt out of family gatherings miss out on what could be the best gathering of the year. Merry Christmas.

The Magic of Christmas

Think back to your first memories of Christmas with your family. The older we are the farther back that is. I can remember coming downstairs on Christmas morning and seeing a stack of presents under the piano. We never had a Christmas tree growing up. I'm not sure if it was because we couldn't afford it or because it was just an unnecessary expense, either way it was normal not to have a tree. My parents were very ‘no frills’ people.

There is peace in trusting God

There is comfort in trusting God is in control of your life. If you can truly leave everything in His capable hands, the stress of life and the worry of things yet to come can be gone. We can stress over a pending situations or get upset over current conditions, but in the end, whether we believe it or not, whether we like it or not, God's will, will be done. He is the Almighty and we have no way to change his mind. We can start to think about a situation hoping this 'person' could do this which might persuade this decision to be made in my favor, or maybe I could encourage this course of action or non-action. But once again we try to do God's job and decide our future. No matter the outcome of anything, God is in control, and really knows what he is doing, AND for our good. No evil or bad thing comes from God.

There is peace in knowing God. I mean the kind of knowing him when you can leave things in His hands and really leave them there, not thinking about them, not fretting about them, just leaving them there.

Pretty Paper

Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Wrap your presents to your darling from you
Pretty pencils to write I love you
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue

Crowded streets,
busy feet,
hustle by him
Downtown shoppers, Christmas is nigh
There he sits....
all alone....
on the sidewalk.....
Hoping......
that you won't pass him by.....

Should you stop?
Better not,
much too busy
You're in a hurry,
my how time does fly
In the distance the ringing of laughter
And in the midst of the laughter
he... cries

Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Wrap your presents to your darling from you
Pretty pencils to write I love you
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue

If Christmas is about giving and really about giving to those who are less fortunate, how come so many of us only give to those we really love AND those who really don't need what we buy them?

I challenge everyone who reads this to give gifts to someone who might not get one this year. Even if it means skimping on some of your regular gifts. Tell me who would not understand if you said, "I only got you that because I bought a homeless girl a new coat and mittens this year".

When you laugh this season in your lavish meals and big heavy coats in the snow,,,,,, "And in the midst of the laughter.. he cries".

Help put Christ's love back in Christmas.

Happy Birthday Anita

My little girl is one year old today! It is amazing to think that it's been a whole year since that long day last fall. It has been one of the most amazing years of my life. She is teaching me so much about myself that I didn't know before, from how patient I am and testing those patience (lol) to showing how much I am actually capable of loving.

I've watched her lay as a newborn a year ago staring into space, not actually able to see anything but shadows til now when this little lady's face lights up and she jumps for joy when I get home from work!

Then she runs from her toys to her books to show me what she has today. Even though I've seen these toys and books a hundred times, because I tell her how great they are and appreciate her showing me, she continues to do that.

One night when she was laying on the floor on her back I was tickling her and she reached up and grabbed both my cheeks and pulled my face down to give me a kiss. Her kisses usually consist of slobbers and the occasional runny nose, but I wouldn't change that for the world. I'll take those kisses no matter how they come! This little girl is a reader! She will empty the entire bookcase of about 50 books and then sit in the middle of them and look through each one, then toss it over her shoulder to get to the next one!

She is especially snuggly when she just wakes up! I will go in to pick her up and she will be standing in her bed holding her diaper up to me, when I take it and put it on my shoulder she will reach up to be picked up and then lay her head on my shoulder and just rest for awhile. She likes to snuggle in close in the morning with Kate.

She also likes to stick her tongue out and blow when she's done eating! I've gotten a carrot shower and an apple sauce shower a few times out of that one! She likes hot dogs for dinner and stuffs them all in her mouth as fast as she can then sits and chews a mouthful like she is getting ready to battle for food with Rowan or something. This little lady of mine is all smiles all the time, although recently she has learned how to fake cry, and when she doesn't get what she wants she will try to fake cry us into giving it to us. It is a beautiful sight actually, it seems to me that she is such a happy girl that she can't really even fake cry without looking like she is hiding a smile. She is an example of what we should all be when it comes to being happy with what we have. She knows no different from what she has and she can get so excited she can't stand it over simple things as her book that she ripped the cover off of or the stuffed animal that she pulls in for a death grip hug when she sees it. This little lady of mine is the most incredible creature in the world to me. Kate and I thought our lives were complete before her, but oh were we wrong. She brings great joy to the lives of all of us in our big extended family. When she sees her Pop-pop or Grandmomma she really just jumps and runs. I like to think that they have a tough job ahead of them because they have to love for two grandparents and what a great job they are doing at it. Anita's Granddad would have a grin from ear to ear and spoil this little girl everytime he saw her. She is missing out on a great part of her life and it's no fault of her own. But the grandparents she has are working overtime to make up that difference and this little girl is reaping the rewards of two over-the-top grandparents in every way. Happy Birthday my little angel baby.

The best days

Yesterday I spent afternoon with my little girl and we had a ball shopping and going to Chick-fil-a for lunch. She needed a date with daddy after a hectic week with a new baby. I have to say, this has been the best year of my life. So as living proof, when things are not going your way and the future seems unsure,,,, keep your faith on God and things will not only get better they will turn into the best days of your life.

If you are praying for the best,,,,, don't settle for anything less.

I'm just not good enough for them... Get over yourself !!

So you know how in every group there is the system of rejects to royalty?? Well it's there like it or not. I got something to say to that. First of all a recent conversation got me thinking. I have two different avenues of thought on this. First, the ones thought of as elite or better than the rest most times only get that label from the ones who feel low by their own choosing and assume the others put themselves at the top of the ladder, when in fact if you took the time to talk to them you'd find out they are more humble than you. Second when it comes to the jerk type of popular elites, as you may see them......

My little buddy!

About 12 hours ago, I witnessed God's miracle of child birth for the second time and it was more amazing than the first. We are excited beyond words with our new baby boy, Rowan Harold Myers. 8 1/2 lbs. 22" long born at 10:25 a.m. Nov. 15, 2010. After 4 girls in the family, he is the first little guy. We are crazy excited about that. God fulfilled his promises to never leave us this morning, He was there the entire time to comfort and give us the strength when ours ran out. What a mighty God we serve. Man, how the devil likes to put fear in our minds and suggest all kinds of things, but God the creator or our being is in control and ultimately wins.

Welcome to this world Rowan Harold Myers
